After fifty years, thirty moves, an almost BFA, some private art training, years of drawing, an MA (in Marriage and Family Therapy), three other careers, and raising a family, I finally publicly declared myself the artist I had always been trying to be and started painting fulltime. About time!!

My murals grace private homes from New England to New Jersey , Florida and Texas , as well as several local businesses in Camden ME where I’ve lived for many years. My style is versatile, encompassing landscapes, the figure, animals, seascapes and boats, skies and florals. I am also a skilled decorative artist, rendering a variety of trompe l’oeil images as well as faux finishes; wood graining, marbles, fabric, aged and distressed finishes.

I love the process of collaborating with my clients to create a design for a space, or to come up with the “right” treatment for an area or a piece of furniture. I work from my own sense of inspiration, their ideas and what ever visual references we pull together. Generally, the sky’s the limit, as long as I feel the work will be within my capabilities. I like the “stretch” a client-driven design often requires, but I don’t want to so exceed my limitations, that I leave behind what I’d consider “bad” mural art!

Every job is an adventure; the sight of a blank wall, the unadorned piece of furniture or odd object an invitation to transformation. Depending on the needs of the client, my presentation can range from a simple pencil sketch and some photo references we’ve collectively assembled to an elaborate and formal rendering. Occasionally, I’ll paint the mural on vinyl wallpaper, canvas or board and have it installed. I generally work in acrylics; if the space is sufficiently large, I might use latex.

I’m feeling I’ve just begun to tap the possibilities of a “statement” on a wall and am always looking forward to what will come up next!
